Requirement to answer

Separate the device test from the board.

The board sits inside the cabinet; the device carries the substation claims.

  • EMC 8/15 kV ESD, 4 kV EFT, 4/2 kV surge and 10–20 V/m are device-level type tests. Board documents are supplied on request.
  • Climate The boards are rated −20 °C to +60 °C. A cabinet that sees −40 °C or +85 °C needs its own thermal design.
  • Power All three picks take 9–36 V DC. Redundant 125 V DC stays at the cabinet level, behind a DC/DC converter.
  • Ports Four LAN on PNM-5210; CAN on the 3.5-inch picks; two LAN on each.

System boundary

The cabinet carries the certification.

The board leaves Piesia with board-level documents. The enclosure, DC/DC converter and network interface belong to the integrator, who type-tests the finished device.

That is why a 125 V DC cabinet and a 9–36 V board can coexist: the converter is part of the equipment, not the board.

Substation cabinet power and certification path Redundant 125 volt DC feeds a converter, then the board, then the gateway and substation network. Configuration example / feeder gateway

A gateway that stays inside its cabinet.

A feeder gateway collects Modbus and the substation protocol data, then forwards it over cellular. The cabinet supplies 125 V DC; the board sees 12 V.

4/2 kV surge level in the device test
  • Board: PNM-5210 with four LAN and optional PoE.
  • Second node: RP7003AW for CAN and serial.
  • Power: cabinet DC/DC to 12 V; no 125 V DC at the board.

Before the inquiry

Certification and power, answered.

Do the boards carry the substation EMC standard?

No. the substation EMC standard and IEEE 1613 type tests apply to the finished substation device. Board-level documents are available on request per model, and the integrator certifies the equipment.

Can the board take 125 V DC directly?

No. The recommended boards take 9–36 V DC. A substation cabinet that uses redundant 125 V DC needs a DC/DC converter ahead of the board.

Which model should I shortlist for four LAN ports?

PNM-5210 carries four LAN ports: three Intel i226-V and one RTL8156B, with optional PoE 48 V/15 W.

Which model carries CAN?

RP7003AW and UT1003AW each carry CAN headers. RP7003AW has two CAN headers; UT1003AW has one CAN port.
